Liberty University president Jerry Falwell accused of ‘discussing his sex life with university employees’
More than two dozen past and current officials of Liberty University have broken their silence about the school’s president, Jerry Falwell Jr, who has come under increasing scrutiny for alleged inappropriate behavior.
Within the last year Falwell has been accused of conducting business deals that benefited his friends, including his personal trainer Benjamin Crosswhite.
In May, it was revealed that in 2015 Falwell asked Trump’s former fixer Michael Cohen to help make some ‘personal’ photos disappear.
A few months later, in August, it was reported that the Evangelical leader and prominent Donald Trump supporter personally approved real estate transactions by his nonprofit Christian university that helped Crosswhite obtain valuable university property, according to real estate records, internal university emails and interviews.
Now, more than 24 current and former high-ranking Liberty University officials have spoken out about why they believe he isn’t fit to lead the university, according to Politico.

Officials claimed Falwell (left) and his wife, Becki (right), have consolidated power at the Liberty University which has allowed their family and friends to make personal financial gains
The officials reportedly don’t believe Falwell is the right man to serve as a leader in the Christian conservative movement.
One official told Politico: ‘We’re not a school; we’re a real estate hedge fund. We’re not educating; we’re buying real estate every year and taking students’ money to do it.’
Other officials claimed Falwell and his wife, Becki, have consolidated power at the Liberty University which has allowed their family and friends to make personal financial gains.
In one example, the unnamed officials said Falwell made the decision to hire his son Trey’s company to manage a shopping center owned by the university.
Some employees recalled to Politico instances in which Falwell has been partying at nightclubs and discussing his sex life with university officials.
Earlier this year, it was reported that Falwell had reached out to Trump’s former lawyer, Michael Cohen.
During a call with actor Tom Arnold, Cohen said that a few months before Falwell’s game-changing endorsement of Trump, the Liberty University president solicited Cohen’s help after someone obtained racy ‘personal’ photographs.
Cohen described the pictures to Arnold as ‘terrible’ and the sort that would typically be kept ‘between husband and wife,’ according to a recorded conversation reviewed by Reuters.
After the Falwells told Cohen someone had obtained photographs and was demanding money, Cohen flew to Florida and met with an attorney for the person with the photographs.
The attorney for the person who possessed the photos told Cohen they had all been destroyed after Cohen intervened on the Falwells’ behalf and pointed out the crime the person was committing.
Through a lawyer at the time, Falwell declined to comment on Cohen’s conversation.
The Falwells enlisted Cohen’s help the year Trump announced his presidential candidacy. At the time, Cohen was Trump’s confidant and personal lawyer, and he worked for the Trump Organization.

Cohen’s connection to the Falwells shed light on the formidable alliance between Trump and a man who, through his university, is one of the most influential evangelical figures in America.
Falwell’s backing helped galvanize evangelicals and persuaded many Christians concerned about Trump’s past behavior to embrace him as a repentant sinner.
According to Politico, Falwell defended his actions and criticized their recent article, saying: ‘I fear that the true information I am sharing in good faith will simply not make any difference. And will only result in more questions.’
The news outlet says members of Liberty’s board of trustees and senior university officials were among those interviewed regarding Falwell’s alleged behavior.
One high-ranking official said Falwell runs the university like a ‘dictatorship’.
‘Nobody craps at the university without Jerry’s approval,’ the official said.
For one, the university uses nondisclosure agreements which prohibit employees or board members from openly discussing any of Falwell’s actions.
‘Everybody is scared for their life. Everybody walks around in fear,’ said a current university employee.
Despite being fearful that Falwell will enact revenge on them if they speak out about him, some believe that ‘someone’s gotta tell the freakin’ truth’.
‘We’re talking about the difference between right and wrong,’ a current high-ranking university official said.
‘Not even “being a Christian,” but being a good person, versus people who manipulate the system,’ the official added.
As Liberty´s leader, Falwell draws an annual salary of nearly $1million, and is obligated to put the university´s financial interests before his own personal interests when conducting Liberty business.
