(LOS ANGELES) — The University of California is dumping fossil fuel investments from its nearly $84 billion pension and endowment funds because they are a financial risk, its top financial officers announced Tuesday.

“Our job is to make money for the University of California, and we’re betting we can do that without fossil fuels investments,” said an opinion article in the Los Angeles Times written by Jagdeep Singh Bachher, UC’s chief investment officer and treasurer, and Richard Sherman, chair of the Board of Regents Investments Committee.

College can be a struggle to keep up with work and passing classes. When the weekend finally rolls around, many students just want to have an inexpensive night filled with friends, beer and good music. 

There are many venues walking distance from Boise State University, including packed bars with little to no cover charge with live music and events.

Police responded to reports of an active shooter at Delaware State University on Tuesday, September 17, but later said they could find no evidence of gunfire or injuries, local media reported.

Citing officials, local media said all routes into and out of the Dover campus were shut down. The university advised people on campus not to move locations until further notice, reports said.
