Spiked CBD Being Sold In Maryland, AP Investigation Finds

TOWSON, Md. (AP) — An Associated Press investigation shows a dark side to booming sales of the cannabis extract CBD. Some people are substituting cheap and dangerous street drugs for the real thing.

For the investigation, a reporter in Towson purchased three vape pods that were advertised as delivering inhalable CBD. Lab testing showed one contained synthetic marijuana.

The store’s co-owner then pulled the brand from shelves.

Mel Roberts steps down from Ikon Melbourne MD role

Mel Roberts, Ikon’s Melbourne managing director, has stepped down from the position effective from the end of the month, 30 September.

Roberts took on the role in June last year, and will remain “closely associated with the agency in a consulting role” according to holding group WPP.

Duke University’s student government voted against giving official recognition to the North Carolina-based school’s Young Life chapter due to the organization having a ban on openly LGBT leadership.

The Duke Student Government Senate unanimously voted last week to reject recognition for the Christian student group, claiming that the leadership standards were discriminatory.

The Student Government Senate of United Methodist related Duke University in North Carolina has refused to recognize Young Life, an evangelical young adult ministry, because it upholds traditional views on sex, which was deemed “discrimination.”

Young Life’s Statement of Faith affirms in sexual conduct only “intimate sexual activity between married heterosexual partners.” Their policy is identical to the United Methodist Church’s, whose Social Principles say “sexual relations are affirmed only with the covenant of monogamous, heterosexual marriage.”

Waterstone Mortgage Opens New Location in Maryland

Waterstone Mortgage has opened a new office in Ellicott City, Md.

The new location is managed by Andrew Wagner, who has been with the company since 2017.

Wagner previously worked as a loan originator at Waterstone Mortgage’s former Timonium, Md., branch.
