    Cambridge tops university rankings – but is bottom for social inclusion

    Cambridge has come top in a key university ranking for the seventh year in a row, despite being deemed the worst performer for social inclusion.

    The university has dropped from fourth last in 2018/19 to having the lowest proportion of non-selective state school-educated children in the country, according to the latest Sunday Times Good University Guide.

    Institutions from the prestigious Russell Group also fared badly.

    Universities from the research-led group occupying 16 of the bottom 20 places in the social inclusion rankings.

    Swiss University Gallen Combats Fraudulent Diplomas With Blockchain Technology

    Switzerland based St. Gallen University is planning to use blockchain technology to combat fraudulent diplomas, which is seeing an increase in the past few years.

    The University of St. Gallen has stated that it is launching a blockchain powered trial venture to validate the originality of its degrees in seconds, instead of several days.

    Harald Rotter, CIO of the university, said

    “I saw that it could be necessary and it could be a valid use case to transfer or to make easier to validate our diplomas based on a digital process on blockchain.”

    US university racism workshop returns, just NINE students come to learn about white privilege

    A university workshop on white privilege and racism was a major flop – attracting just nine students out of the 30,000 enrolled in the school. Last year, the course sparked outrage over the perception that it was ‘whites-only’.
